Letterpress

A relief printing method in which a reversed, raised surface is inked, then pressed onto paper or other printable surface, resulting in a correctly transposed print. This is the method of printing invented by Johannes Gutenberg in the 15th century, which allowed books to be (comparitively) mass-produced rather than hand-written.
